Rail3d requires Windows XP or Windows 2000
| New Users: | Download the Rail3D setup
(msi file, 6.5Mb) This program will download the necessary components
of Rail3D and install Rail3D on your computer. An internet
connection is required during the installation to download components.
A broadband connection is recommended: the basic installation requires
more than 11Mb of downloads plus more for stock, scenery and signals. If you have problems with the setup program (some problems have been reported on Windows Vista) you can use the old version of the installer here |
|
| Existing Users: | Download the Rail3D Updater
(ZIP file, 280kB) This program should be unzipped and placed in the
same folder as your existing Rail3D program files. When the
updater is run it will download new components from the internet and
update your installation. |
For details of version changes, see http://rail3dwiki.markhodson.nl/index.php?n=Main.BuildLog
Program updates are published via the Rail3D updater program. You should have this program (R3d Update.exe) in your Rail3D folder (if not see instructions above for downloading).
Please run the updater program periodically and it will ensure that you have the latest code and model library releases.
The Rail3D installer needs an internet connection to download components from the internet. If you need to install Rail3D on a computer without an internet connection, please follow these instructions.
Download the Rail3D installation program (above).
Run the installation process on an internet connected machine and when prompted to select a folder for installation, create and specify a new, empty folder.
Let the installation program complete downloading and installing into the new folder.
To download some models, either:
Download some getting started packages on the internet connected machine and unpack using the new copy of Rail3D on (see getting started)
-or-
Run "R3d update" in the new folder on the
internet connected machine and allow it to download all available models
from the library
(this will take some time and requires broadband)
Copy the entire folder containing Rail3D and all the sub-folders containing downloaded models to a CD.
On the target machine:
Create a new folder for Rail3D
Copy the Rail3D folder and sub-folders from the CD to the new folder.
