  • SpotLog uses your device's data connection to download datasets and to fetch updates.
  • No data is used when SpotLog is used to record train numbers, browse the datasets or the log.
  • When enabled in settings SpotLog checks for data updates when the app starts, and the device is connected to WiFi.  This is a small download: typically less than 1kB of data
  • When you download a dataset, or update a dataset SpotLog downloads the information from http://www.rail3d.info/other/locolist/locolist.aspx.  A full update of a large dataset (eg the UK mainline dataset) is typically 6-8MB.
  • If "Download Photos" is enabled in settings, SpotLog will download available photos when updating and store them on the device.  Photo's are typically 40-50kB in size.

SpotLog privacy statement

  • No personal data is stored in SpotLog or transmitted to the data server.
  • When checking for updates, or downloading datasets, SpotLog records the device type (ie manufacturer and model) and this is logged on the server.  This information is not shared with anyone other than the developer, and is useful for assessing SpotLog use and guiding future development.
  • The Google Play Store records SpotLog installs and device details.
