Version 4.00

01/05/2017

  • Users can add and edit their own book entries
  • Improved synchronisation

Unfortunatly, owing to an error in setting up the build, Version 4.00 from the Google Play Store only runs on Android 6 and upwards. And because of the way the Play Store works, this cannot be corrected, however it was my mistake.

V4.00 will run on Android 4 and 5, but you can't get it from the Play Store, you can download the APK for SpotLog v4.00 for Android 5 here (Install on Android 5)

Version 3.00

06/02/2016

Version 2.20

01/01/2015

New book layout for UK Preserved steam data set.

The new layout allows the class list to be subdivided, so for UK preserved steam, the classes are grouped by "BR", "GWR", "LMS" etc

Loco record page now correctly ordered.

Can mark or unmark a loco as seen in the book view.

You can mark a specific loco as seen, without recording the time and place as a record, by tap-and-hold the loco row in the book and selecting "Mark as Seen"

Bakup/Restore includes seen status of loco.

Option to hide scrapped loco's from book.

In settings you can now choose to hide loco's that have been scrapped.

Loco's scrapped, but recorded as seen, are not hidden.

List of codes in use (status, depot etc) now available in the application.

The codes used in the app for depot, status, operator etc are now available for reference in the app.  Select "Codes" from the menu

Reports

The app now has a reporting feature that can be used to generate HTML reports from the records in the app.

Version 2.10

27/09/14

Thanks to John Cordrey who suggested some changes.

Changed default backup location.

Previous versions saved the backup file in the application's file area: this was hard to find and was deleted if the app was uninstalled.

Backup export now goes to usual file storage (eg Documents) where it is easier to find and doesn't get deleted during an uninstall.  You can specify the backup location in the app settings.

Mark first sighting in the Log

First sighting of a loco is starred in the log

Mark loco's photographed in the book

As well as "Seen" tick, loco's photographed are marked with a camera icon in the book

Book scrolls down when browsing long lists.  EG if you are browsing UK class 66 and open record for (eg) 66035, when you go back from the inidividual loco record to the class view, the list scrolls so that the last loco viewed (66035) is in view.

Version 2.07

 12/07/14

Thanks to John Cordrey who reported some of the bugs and suggested changes.

Don't repeat "Bad Checksum"

If you enter a number with an incorrect UIC check-digit, you will get a prompt "Bad Checksum".  In previous versions this prompt was repeated every time you entered a new number, or initiated a processing run.  This is now fixed, so you only get prompted the first time for each bad number.

Dis-ambiguation starts processing

Processing of numbers now starts automatically when you select between possible ambiguous matches.

Fix db/DB duplication

There was a bug in an earlier data update, where some DB classes appeared under "db" as well as under "DB".  This is fixed.

Fixed crash if swipe beyond "Log" tab

Fixed unresponsive add button (after tab change)

The main "Add" button could become unresponsive under some circumstances, for example when the app is switched to a different tab then back to the notepad.  This has now been fixed

Thumbnail of locos shown in class list in the book

Small thumbnail class pictures are now shown in the class list in the book.

Can now deselect a company so it is not used in matching numbers

If you have lots of company datasets loaded, you will got lots of ambiguous matches.  For example "150 001" might represent an UK DMU (150001), a German electric loco (150 001-6) or a Swiss railcar (ZB 150 001).

This new option allows you to "switch off" one or companies from matching.  So, if you were in Switzerland, you could turn off the UK and German lists, and thus "150 001" will only match the Swiss unit.

You can access this setting by tapping and holding the company in the book.

Short form UIC numbers  option

This option allows SpotLog to recognise numbers without a space to match a number in the book with a space.  Thus entering "150001" could match DE electric "150 001".

With the option you will get more ambiguous matches

This option is off by default: you can turn in on in settings.
